flowers with a conscience

The cut flower trade is a bizarre intersection of nature and technology.  Flowers are engineered to perfection, bred for a long vase life and the ability to withstand travel around the globe and up to two weeks without a water supply.   Through this process, at minimum, most flowers will lose their scent.  More importantly, they will be drenched -- literally and figuratively -- in toxic chemicals and fossil fuels, poisoning the earth and causing medical problems in farm workers.

Lush Life Floral believes that we may keep the joy of flowers in our lives while at the same time remaining committed to environmental values.  Buy locally whenever possible, and ask your florist where your flowers were grown.  Patronize grocers and retailers who sell organic and domestic flowers, as this is where the demand for better environmental and labor standards will originate.

Lush Life obtains most of its floral materials from small scale growers practicing organic and sustainable methods in the Snoqualmie valley, east of Seattle, or from wholesalers who carry organic flowers and produce.  Our designs represent beauty and vitality. In creating them, we consider not just our own well-being but also that of workers and ecosystems around the globe.
